REGISTRATION RULES

A. LEVELS & CATEGORIES

  1. Hockey is provided at the U11 (9 & 10), U13 (11 &12), U15 (13 & 14) and U18 (15 - 17 inclusive). All ages are as of December 31, of Tournament year.
  2. These classifications are based on the Nova Scotia rating system which may vary from your Province / State.

 

B. TEAM ROSTERS & TRAVEL PERMITS

  1. ONLY Registered teams will be accepted at the SEDMHA Tournament.
  2. TRAVEL PERMITS: Must accompany each application by February 28th of the current Tournament year.
  3. Changes to the team official or player roster submitted with the tournament application will be permitted to March 24th of current tournament year. NO changes will be considered after this date for ANY reason.
  4. Players not listed on the Tournament Registration form may not participate. Any player brought to the tournament who is not registered with the tournament and for which the registrar's authorization has not been obtained and dated prior to March 26th of the current tournament year, will not be allowed to participate in any games. If they do... the TEAM will be suspended without exception as per the HNSMC code of discipline Regulation 25.20 - ANY INCIDENT OR BEHAVIOUR DETRIMENTAL TO MINOR HOCKEY. Please... Make sure!

 

C. OFFICIAL OR (AFFILIATED) PLAYERS & TEAM OFFICIALS

  1. Teams may register five (5) Team Officials - Head Coach, Trainer and three Assistant Coaches (Managers are ex officio team officials) and a maximum of 19 players - 17 skaters and 2 goaltenders (if only one (1) goaltender is brought, the maximum number of skaters is still 17) and a minimum of 10 players - 9 skaters and 1 goaltender.
  2. A player may participate with one team only.

 

D. Player Affiliations

  1. Affiliated Players to a maximum of three are allowed ONLY to replace players that are not attending the tournament.
  2. Affiliates can only be used to replace players that are not attending the tournament and NOT to be used to bolster rosters.  ie: If a team has 15 registered players all year they may not play with more than 15 players in the tournament. If all 15 players were to attend the tournament then NO affiliates can be added to the roster.
  3. FOR AFFILIATED players (maximum of three) or any player name that appears on the tournament registration form but does not appear on the Provincial / State registration forms a copy of players birth certificate, the name and affiliation of the team from which the player is being affiliated, and a letter from the governing body verifying the affiliation must be sent to the Registrar prior to the time of registration.

E. TEAM CLASSIFICATION & CATEGORIZATION

  1. Every attempt is made to ensure that your team will be slotted into the proper competitive level.
  2. AAA teams are the top teams in each level, AA are second best teams, A are third best in a level and B Teams represent the lower skill level competitive teams. There is NO AAA in U15 or U18.
  3. These classifications are based on the Nova Scotia rating system which may vary from your Province / State.
  4. Final team placement or categorization will be done by the Tournament Committee and will be based on your team location, plus league and exhibition game results which are to be submitted by ON-LINE form between January 15 and 31 of current tournament year.
  5. To assist us in this classification process, we request that you provide as much information as possible on your league standing or exhibition games.
  6. Final team placement is at the discretion of the tournament committee.

 

F. SPECIAL RULES

  1. ALL STAR House League, with players from 2, 3 or 4 teams to make a "SEDMHA Tournament Team" are not permitted UNLESS –
    • The Team is sanctioned by the Provincial Minor Hockey Authority (Documentation is REQUIRED).
    • All players have completed an appropriate body checking program for applicable Divisions.
    • The Team has played a minimum of 10 games prior to March 1st (Valid game results must be submitted to the Registrar).
  2. Body Checking allowed at the "Male" Bantam Level and above with the exception of Midget Non-Checking and Bantam Non-Checking Divisions.
  3. Midget AA may register and dress 20 players, 18 skaters and 2 goaltenders (if only 1 goaltender is brought, the maximum number of skaters is still 18).
